Dont come expecting plot: Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is just a concert film, recorded at the last show of David Bowies Ziggy Stardust tour at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, July 3rd, 1973. However, to say its just a concert film doesnt quite cover the bases
The albums front cover photo, shot by Kate Simon, was taken in the alleyway directly opposite the front door of the bands Rehearsal Rehearsals building in Camden Market. Drummer Terry Chimes, though a full member of the Clash at the time, did not appear in the picture as he had already decided to leave the group.
The location of the film shoot. The Ziggy Stardust photo was taken outside of 23 Heddon Street, a small, block-long, dead end street in central London, just west of Carnaby street.
The K. West sign that appears over Bowies head on the album cover belonged to a furrier that, at the time, occupied part of the premises at 23 Heddon Street. The sign has long since been taken down (apparently it was removed by an enthusiastic Bowie fan in 1982).
The album cover, photographed in monochrome and recoloured, was taken in London outside the home of furriers K. West. Preceded by the single Starman, Ziggy Stardust docHubed the UK top five.

Just off Regents Street is the location where David Bowie shot one of the most iconic album covers of all time. It looks pretty different these days but you can even see the famous telephone box.
