Each year, real estate taxes are to be paid by a predetermined date to avoid becoming delinquent. Once delinquent, the Tax Collector holds an auction in order to pay off the taxes. This auction is referred to as a Tax Certificate Sale (FS 197.432).
The total sales tax charged is 7% this includes the 6% Florida state tax rate plus the 1% Miami-Dade discretionary surtax. The tax calculation would be: $100 (item price) x 0.07 (tax rate) = $7 (sales tax total). Add this to the item price, and the final amount the customer pays is $107.
If you sell items to customers in another state, but do not have nexus in that state, you do not have to collect sales tax on the items you sell to them. However, your customers are responsible for paying use tax in their state on the items when they receive them.
Florida law states that each retail sale, storage for use, admission, use, or rental is taxable unless the transaction is exempt. Floridas general sales tax rate is six percent (6%); however, other rates may apply based on the type of sale (e.g., 4% on amusement machine receipts and 6.95% on electricity).
There is no personal income tax in Florida. Florida Sales Tax: Florida sales tax rate is 6%. Florida State Tax: Florida does not have a state income tax. Florida Corporate Income Tax: Corporations that do business and earn income in Florida must file a corporate income tax return (unless they are exempt).
