Under certain circumstances, students may elect to have previously completed courses disregarded in the computation of their cumulative grade point average (GPA). This process is known as academic renewal, defined in ance with Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Section 55046.

What does academic renewal mean on a transcript?

Academic Renewal is the process for removing previously substandard academic grades from your record. Academic Renewal is used in situations in which a past substandard grade does not reflect your current demonstrated ability.

Does academic renewal affect GPA?

A student may be granted Academic Renewal only once and it is irreversible once posted to the transcript. The substandard grade(s) alleviated will be subtracted from the grade point average; however, they will remain legible on the transcript and annotated to indicate Academic Renewal.

Does continuing education affect GPA?

Courses providing CEUs are not graded, rather the students satisfactory participation determines completion and award of the continuing education unit.
