The rent increase guideline for 2023 is 2.5%. The guideline is based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index, a measure of inflation calculated monthly by Statistics Canada that reflects economic conditions over a 12-month period (June to May).
For a one-year lease beginning on or after October 1, 2022, and on or before September 30, 2023: 3.25% For a two-year lease beginning on or after October 1, 2022, and on or before September 30, 2023: 5%
In Form N1 Ontario, put the date for the rent increase. Fill in the increased rent amount, mentioning dollars and cents too. Also, you must mention when the tenant must pay rent in the lease period, e.g., monthly, yearly, etc. Then, Fill in the percentage by which the rent will increase.
In 2023, the maximum most landlords can raise a tenants rent without the approval of the Landlord and Tenant Board is 2.5% (rent control).
