The State of Arizona holds unclaimed property as a custodian for the rightful owner. The state will return property to owners who provide proof showing their right to claim the property.
Oregon holds millions of dollars in unclaimed assets, like uncashed checks, forgotten bank accounts, security deposits, tax refunds, credit balances, investment accounts, and other funds. Oregons Unclaimed Property Program now part of Oregon State Treasury keeps those funds safe for their rightful owner to claim.
All unclaimed property must be reported, and Oregon law requires holders to make a diligent effort to find owners with property valued at $100 or more. Efforts may include letters, emails and phone calls. Inform owners their property will be sent to the Department of State Lands if they do not respond.
State law requires you to keep unclaimed property reports and related records including due diligence efforts for three years after reporting (ORS 98.354(1)).
(1) A Person may submit a Claim for Property at any time after the Person learns that the Property has been reported to the Treasurer by submitting a completed Property Claim Form and required attachments.
