Prospective students who have reached the age of 45 years qualify for open admission or mature age exemption without any schooling qualification. The student must, however, still obtain a Certificate of Conditional Exemption from the Matriculation Board.
10.16 Exemptions may be granted for modules passed from a Higher Certificate or Diploma completed at Unisa or any other recognised private or public institution even though the completed qualification was used to articulate to the Degree.
If you do not meet the minimum requirements for UCT admission but you are 23 years or older and have a Grade 12 (school-leaving) certificate, you may qualify for a mature age exemption. If you fall into this category, you should discuss the possibility of conditional exemption with the relevant faculty office.

You may not register for more than the allowed maximum number of credits / modules per academic year and / or semester: 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year. The maximum number of credits do not include supplementary and / or aegrotat examinations from a previous semester.
