Missouri law requires that a motor vehicle must be titled (within 30 days of the purchase date) before it is either registered for highway use or transferred to another individual. If you do not have a properly assigned title (or Manufacturers Statement of Origin), you have no clear legal right to the vehicle.
Remember: All sellers and purchasers must print their names and sign the back of the title in the assignment area. These signatures do not need to be docHubd. The seller must write in the odometer reading and date of sale. You may not use correction fluid (white-out) or erase marks from the title.
Sellers, other than Missouri licensed dealers, must submit a completed Notice of Sale (Form 5049) Document or Bill of Sale (Form 1957) Document form to report the sale.
