The Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine accepts whole body donations to provide medical, dental, nursing, and allied health students throughout the state of Indiana with the opportunity to learn human anatomy from a first patient.
What would disqualify you from donating your body to science?
Most health conditions do NOT prevent donation and age is not a factor. There are very few diseases that would make you ineligible to be an organ donor. Some severe infections, such as viral meningitis, active tuberculosis, Creutzfeldt-Jakob (Mad Cow) disease, and a few others would disqualify donation.
How much do you get paid for donating your body to science?
We also decline the donation of individuals who have infections such as COVID-19, , any form of Hepatitis, tuberculosis, antibiotic resistant infections such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), or prior diseases such as Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD).
What is the anatomical education program in Indiana?
Is there an age limit? We have no upper age limit on donation. In fact, our oldest donor was 113 years old. Donors do, however, need to be at least 18 years old to donate to Science Care.
