By law your employer must give you a P45 - ask them for one.P45 Your employer sends details for Part 1 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and gives you the other parts. You give Part 2 and 3 to your new employer (or to Jobcentre Plus if youre not working). Keep Part 1A for your own records.

What happens if you dont have P45?

If you dont have a P45 to give to a new employer, the new employer should ask you to complete a starter checklist. If they dont, print one off, complete it and give it to your new employer anyway. The phrase P46 is still sometimes used to refer to the starter checklist.
