Hello, this is Cristi. Today, I want to show you a cool trick in Microsoft Word on cleaning up your text that you bring from external sources and itamp;#39;s broken down into weird lines and paragraphs, and it doesnamp;#39;t keep sentences together. So this is typically happening when you bring texts in from for example, audio transcripts or YouTube or video transcripts. Let me show you an example here. Each time the machine was pressed down onto a sheet of paper, a rotating wheel was moved incrementally. The original machine described by Bates allowed numbering with a four-digit sequence, ranging from 0000 to 9999. For example, page 852 in a document set would be 0852.
Bates Numbering (or Bates Stamping) assigns unique identifiers to each page in a collection of documents. Its a way to index document contents so theyre easier to find later.
Select Edit Insert Bates Numbering Remove to permanently remove Bates numbers from currently open files. Other header and/or footer elements, if any, are retained. An information box instructs you how to interpret the results of the operation.
These identifiers could include things like client names, dates, or case numbers in addition to page numbers. For example, pages in documents related to Jane Does case could be numbered as JDOE00001, JDOE00002, and so on, for added clarity.
Prefix: A prefix is a set of characters that is added to the beginning of the Bates number. This can be used to identify a specific case or document. Bates number: The Bates number is the unique identifier that is assigned to each page.
Bates numbering is commonly used in the legal industry for indexing and tracking large volumes of documents, such as with litigation activities like discovery and trial preparation, so everyone from the paralegal to the partner can identify and track documents.
Bates stamping can be used to mark and identify images with copyrights by putting a company name, logo, and/or legal copyright on them. This process provides identification, protection, and automatic consecutive numbering of the pages.
Bates numbering best practices Use the right number of digits. In Bates numbering, the number of digits in a number is often used to indicate how many pages are in a specific document set. Add extra information. Make sure each number is unique. Keep it consistent.
