Make sure the Rokus closed captioning setting is toggled on from Settings Accessibility Captions mode. It seems obvious, but they might have been turned off without you realizing it. If they already are, shut them off, reboot the Roku, and then turn them back on.
How do I turn closed captioning on or off? Web and mobile: located on the black bar at the bottom the screen. TV-connected devices: located on the black bar at the bottom of the screen (some TV-connected devices may display a three dot icon) On Apple TVs, swipe down on your Apple remote.
