Right-click on the link and select the option to edit the link. In the Edit Hyperlink window, delete the current text in the Text to display field and type in the new name you want to use for the link. Click the OK button to save the changes and close the Edit Hyperlink window.
Change an existing hyperlink Right-click anywhere on the link and, on the shortcut menu, click Edit Hyperlink. In the Edit Hyperlink dialog, select the text in the Text to display box. Type the text you want to use for the link, and then click OK.
Steps After pressing Alt+9 we now have all of the field codes for our hyperlinks exposed we can change them. Click the More button to reveal the Find options. In the Find what: text box type ^d, this will find all of the hyperlinks in your document. Leave the Replace with: text box blank. Press the ALT-F9 key.
Update Hyperlinks in an Word Document Open your document in Microsoft Word. Press the ALT + F9 keys on your keyboard (note that on some laptops you may need to also add the FN key if you do not have a full set of F keys on the keyboard).
To change the address or display text of a hyperlink you added, right-click the link and click Edit Hyperlink. To change the appearance of a hyperlink, such as font style, size, or color, right-click the link and click Font on the shortcut menu, or click a style option on the mini toolbar that appears.
Summary of how to edit hyperlinks whenever the option is grayed out: Place your cursor in the middle of the hyperlink without selecting or highlighting it. Now, right click and select Edit Hyperlink. You should now be able to edit the Text to display, and it should no longer be grayed out.
To remove a hyperlink but keep the text, right-click the hyperlink and click Remove Hyperlink. To remove the hyperlink completely, select it and then press Delete.
