Block quotations start on their own line. The entire block quotation is indented 0.5 inches, the same as the indentation for a new paragraph, and is double spaced. Block quotations are not surrounded by any quotation marks.
Omitting Words from Quotations If you omit a word or words from a quotation to make sure that the quotation makes sense in the context in which you are using it, indicate the deletion by using three spaced dots (an ellipsis) surrounded by brackets.
You can use an ellipsisthree consecutive periods, with one space around each ( . . . )to leave out extra or unnecessary words. The ellipsis represents information that you are omitting from a quotation.
You can say quote before and unquote after a word or phrase, or quote, unquote before or after it, to show that you are quoting someone or that you do not believe that a word or phrase used by others is accurate.
