So Iamp;#39;ve been getting a lot of questions recently about how to better control page numbering in a Pagesamp;#39; document. Sometimes you want to skip pages or have a cover page. So letamp;#39;s take a look at how to get exactly the page numbers that you want. Pages has, of course, two modes. Word Processing and Page Layout. Letamp;#39;s start by looking at Word Processing. Iamp;#39;m going to create a blank document and Iamp;#39;m going to paste in some text here to fill out the document. So as you can see Iamp;#39;ve got a bunch of pages here. Docs Slides: Restart a numbered list On your computer, open a document or presentation in Google Docs or Slides. Double-click the first number. At the top, click Format. Bullets numbering. Select List options. Restart numbering. Enter a new start number for your list. Click OK.
Open a Google Doc. In the top left, click Insert Page number. More options. Under Apply to, choose where you want to apply the page number change. Tip: If you dont find this option, add a section break. Learn how to add a section break. Click Apply.

To use different page numbering schemes in different sections of your Word document, there are two tricks: 1) you must include a Section Break - Next page between each section of your document where the numbering will change, and 2) you must unlink each sections footer from the one before it.

To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
