When writing a name initials are always capitalized and followed by a period. Note that when writing both initials you do not include a space between, so J.S. , NOT J. S.
Click the Insert tab. Click the Header button on the ribbon. Choose the first option, Blank. Word inserts a blank header showing [Type text] at the top of the document. Double-click the [Type text] wording and type your initials.
The initials should be handwritten in ink; it can be in either print or cursive, or in the form of the first alphabet of your name, a half version of the signature or a quick and short scribble, or just a slight stroke of the hand with the writing instrument.
To keep two words or a hyphenated word together on one line, you can use a nonbreaking space or nonbreaking hyphen instead of a regular space or hyphen. Click where you want to insert the nonbreaking space.
Turning off automatic hyphenation Select the paragraph or paragraphs. Click the Home tab in the Ribbon. Click the dialog box launcher on the bottom right corner of the Paragraph group. The Paragraph dialog box appears. Click Line and Page Breaks. Select or check Dont Hyphenate. Click OK.
Keeping text together with nonbreaking spaces To insert a nonbreaking space between two words or characters using a keyboard shortcut: Position the cursor between the two words or characters you want to keep together (there should be no space between these characters). Press Ctrl + Shift + Spacebar.
