Any auto coverage is a temporary expansion of your commercial auto insurance policy that allows you to buy new business use vehicles without worrying if theyre insured.
Symbol 1: Any Auto Symbol 1- Any Auto is the most comprehensive coverage option available on a Commercial Car insurance policy. It includes coverage for scheduled, hired, and non-owned autos, as well as other types of vehicles that may be involved in use for your business.
Symbol 9: Non-Owned Autos Coverage for Non-Owned Autos provides coverage for any Autos that the business and its owners do not personally own but are still used during your business.
When this occurs, a special symbol, such as 10 for liability or 7 for physical damage coverage, is used and added to the policy by an endorsement. The endorsement must contain a complete explanation/description of what the symbol means.
Of the 10 available symbols, symbol 1 affords the broadest coverage. It triggers coverage for any auto used in your business, including autos you (the named insured) own or hire and autos owned by someone else, such as an employee. Symbol 1 can be used to trigger auto liability coverage only.
Agents Need to Cover Their Exposures by Offering Hired Non-Owned Auto Coverage. Risk managers, insurance agents and brokers have always known that a Symbol 7 on auto liability policies is not very desirable. This symbol essentially means that only the autos scheduled on the policy are covered.
Purpose of Insurance Symbols Symbols are listed below for various coverage types (For example, Symbol 5 for no-fault coverage, Symbol 7 for any type of coverage, Symbol 10 for business or commercial auto, and so on). Policies will only cover vehicles as indicated by their symbols as applicable covered autos.
Symbol 1 is going to provide you the broadest coverage for your commercial vehicles because symbol 1 is designated any auto; any auto you own, rent, hire, lease, and any non-owned autos. This coverage even includes your employees vehicles if they drive for business purposes.
