Go to Taxes and select VAT (Take me there). Select Edit VAT, then select Edit rates. Find the tax rate you want to deactivate, then switch it from On to Off. Select Yes.
Step 2: Add an adjustment Go to VAT. Find the tax period you need to adjust, then select Prepare return. Next to the entry you need to adjust, select Adjust. Create a VAT only invoice Enter the Description, for example, VAT only or VAT adjustment. In the Ledger Account list, choose your usual ledger account for purchases. Leave the Qty/Hrs and Price/Rate boxes as 0.00. Choose the relevant VAT Rate.
Go to the Lists menu, then select Item List. Find the sales tax item you need to update. Right-click on the item, then select Edit Item (pencil icon in QuickBooks for Mac). Update information like the sales tax name, rate, and tax agency.
Set up VAT in QuickBooks Online In QuickBooks, go to Taxes and select Set up VAT. Or, go to Get things done and select Set up VAT in QuickBooks. Select the month you need to start calculating VAT from. Select your filing frequency for VAT.
From Sales, choose Sales Invoices, and New Invoice. Enter the date and customer details. On the first line, do not choose a Product / Service. Enter a Description, for example, VAT only or VAT adjustment.
To edit VAT rates: Go to Taxes and select VAT (Take me there). In the top right-hand corner next to Add tax, select the Edit dropdown then Edit rates. In the tax rate table, choose the rate you want to change and select Edit. In the Edit tax rate window, change the rate. Set the Effective date, if required. Select Save.
Delete a VAT adjustment Select the Gear icon at the top and select Chart of accounts (Take me there). Find the income or expense account you used to add an adjustment. Select Run report. Select the adjustment you need to delete and then select Delete. Select Yes to confirm.
