Even at 4,500 years old, the Great Pyramid of Giza is still revealing new secrets. On Thursday, Egyptian officials announced the discovery of a hidden corridor above the pyramids entrance. Measuring 30 feet long, the passage could serve as a jumping-off point for additional research into the mysterious inner chambers.
Why it matters: Though the pyramids at Giza are more than 4,000 years old, sites are still being discovered there. In March of last year, Egyptian antiquities officials unveiled a hidden internal corridor above Gizas Great Pyramid.

Carnarvon asked, Can you see anything? Carter replied: Yes, wonderful things! Carter had, in fact, discovered Tutankhamuns tomb (subsequently designated KV62). The tomb was then secured, to be entered in the presence of an official of the Egyptian Department of Antiquities the next day.
The tomb of Nefertiti Her tomb has yet to be found. Most tombs of the pharaohs were looted by grave robbers many hundreds of years ago, but until Nefertitis can be identified, its fate remains a mystery, Some believe it is intact, hidden in a secret chamber behind Tutankhamun.
They discovered a pair of underground structures one shallow, the other deep beneath a royal graveyard near the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid. The archaeologists described the structures as an anomaly because their density differs from that of the surrounding ground.
Archaeologists Find Hidden Chambers in Pyramid of Egyptian Pharaoh. The eight rooms were likely used to store funerary equipment for Sahura, the second pharaoh of the Fifth Dynasty.
