Weaving is the process of interlacing vertical and horizontal threads to make a textile. The vertical threads are called the warp and the horizontal threads are called the weft. Weaving is done on a machine called a loom. On a loom, the warp beam holds the warp threads on which the textile will be woven.
Its a technique that any weaver with four or more shafts can use. Patterned inlay is similar to overshot, with alternating plain-weave and pattern picks. However, instead of the pattern weft traveling from selvedge to selvedge as in overshot, the inlay appears only where the weaver chooses to place it.
The following 7 types of weave are the most commonly used techniques in the world. These are plain, slit, twill, sumak, pile, knotted and tapestry which give different patterns and textures of fabrics.
In plain weave cloth, the warp and weft threads cross at right angles, aligned so they form a simple criss-cross pattern. Each weft thread crosses the warp threads by going over one, then under the next, and so on. The next weft thread goes under the warp threads that its neighbor went over, and vice versa.

Theo Moorman technique uses tie-down warp threads to lock in a secondary weft, allowing the weaver to create a vast array of freehand designs. Unlike inlay weaving, this method holds the pattern weft on the surface of the weaving. In other words, the reverse side of the fabric will show only the plain weave.
Weaving is the textile art in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads - called the warp and weft - are interlaced with each other at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. The warp threads run length-ways on the piece of cloth, while the weft runs horizontally.
