In order to get medicine to specific structures in the body to target your pain or injury, we use ultrasound in certain joints of the body or X-ray. X-ray guidance is done using a machine called a C-arm. Itamp;#39;s shaped like a C, and comes over the top as you lie down on a table. As we guide injection down into your spine, we take pictures along the way to help guide us to get that precise placement to certain structures that cause people pain. Also, in terms of other joints of the body, we are able to use ultrasound. Ultrasound is an imaging technique that does not use radiation, but allows us to see superficial structures in the body.
