[Music] hey hi guys so this is Chelsea for Chelsea buns cross-stitch this morning so as you can see I finally finished the fall bookmark and this will be hopefully released on this tour relatively soon but because bookmarks need to be spent finished a specific way I figured I would do a little how-to video so that you can finish your book like just like I did so this is the finished piece I think its about two and a half by eight inches which is standard bookmark size youll need a couple of things to do this project one is fusible web something like this will work you can also get the sew on stuff this is just the iron-on adhesive this is just gonna give it a little bit more stability so that when you use it it doesnt flex as much and it wont be as flimsy as just the ADA this stitch is done on 14 count ADA in oatmeal thatll be a part of the chart once I get it finished and published the other thing youll need is some fabric that goes with goes with your pattern cuz were gonna b

7 Steps to Make a Cross Stitch Bookmark Stitch your design. First you need to stitch your design onto your aida/evenweave. Cut your design out. Now you need to cut out your design. Iron. Pin it Together. Sew it Together. Poke and Iron. Close the Gap.
Finish your bookmark by covering the raw fabric edge. Cut a piece of ribbon to the same length as the bookmark, excluding the fringe. Dot the bookmark seam with glue and press the ribbon on top of the glue.
You can overcast the edges with a simple whip stitch, or fold over the edge into a hem and baste it. When hand stitching the edge, use regular sewing thread doubled up. Be sure to stitch into the fabric a bit so you dont end up pulling up the edges - 1/4 to 1/2 inch should work.
The Aida cloth tends to fray very easily, so you want to finish the edges of your fabric before you start sewing. You can either use some Fray Check along the edge, or sew a zigzag stitch with a sewing machine (or use a serger), or fold masking tape over the edge of the fabric.
Cut a long piece of strong thread and knot the end. Sew around the edge, through both layers, using a basting stitch. Pull both ends of the thread to gather the fabric and tie securely.
The quickest and easiest way to seal your fabric edges is with masking tape. Simply measure and cut a length of masking tape for each side, and fold it carefully over the edges of your fabric.
