Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can create your very own fillable form using Microsoft Word. First off, what is a fillable form? You can have people go in and fill out a form, but they wont be able to edit the questions or the structure of the form. You can use things like check boxes, text fields, drop down lists, date pickers, to build your form. Once someones finished completing your form, they can e-mail it back, they could print it out, or you could even connect it to a database. Connecting to a database is outside of the scope of todays tutorial. Its kind of like an docHub PDF form, but its Microsofts version of it. Ive included sample files today if you want to follow along, otherwise lets jump on the PC and lets get started. To make a document un-editable, first, select all the text in the document by pressing Ctrl+A. Once all of the text is highlighted, click Restrict Editing in the Protect group on the Developer tab.
Step 1: Show Developer tab. To do this, click on File tab Options Customize Ribbon. Then under the Customize Ribbon, select the Developer checkbox and click OK. Step 2: Open a Word document and you will be able to make the Word document fillable.
Create a fillable PDF in Word with these steps. Within the Word program, select File New Document. Create the form. Type out the necessary details of your form. Save as PDF. Once youre happy with your Word document, youll need to save it as a PDF. Open PDF with Acrobat Reader. Prepare the form. Save your form.
