So there are new versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote and they have a few new features. One of those, across all three apps, is the ability to fill text with either a gradient or an image. This is somewhat useful in Pages but I see it as mostly being the big new feature for Keynote where having colorful interesting text is a big plus. So to get these new features you want to make sure youre using version 8.1 of Pages. Ive got some sample text here. Now it only makes sense to fill text with a gradient or an image if its kind of like title text. It doesnt make any sense to do body text with that. Fill objects with colour or an image in Pages on Mac Click a shape or text box to select it, or select multiple objects. In the Format sidebar, click the Style tab. Choose one of the following: A colour or gradient designed to go with the template: Click the colour well next to Fill, then choose a colour or gradient.
Select the cells, move the pointer over a border of the selection until a yellow autofill handle appears, then drag the handle over the cells you want to fill. You can also autofill cells using a pattern of values.
Add an image fill You can fill shapes, text boxes, and other objects with an image. Select an object. In the Style pane of the Format inspector, click the disclosure triangle next to Fill. Choose Image Fill, or Advanced Image Fill if you want to add a tint to the image, from the Fill pop-up menu.
Autofill one or more cells with content from adjacent cells: Select the cells with the content you want to copy, then move the pointer over a border of the selection until a yellow autofill handle (a dot) appears. Drag the handle over the cells where you want to add the content.
