You do not ever need to give a reason for declining an invitation. All you merely need to say is, Thank you for inviting me, but I wont be able to attend. And its okay to choose to not attend an event or accept an invitation because you have nothing else going on. You attend an event because you want to.
Do: Include the name of the honoree. Use colorful language that matches your theme. Mention the date, time and address. List contact information and date to RSVP. Provide extra details (ex: wear a costume or bring a date).
WHEN TO MAIL: A general rule of thumb is to mail wedding or formal event invitations 6-8 weeks in advance. Casual invitations for kids, simple birthday party, casual dinner party, can be mailed 2-3 weeks ahead of the party date.
Make the final RSVP date two days before your actual planning deadline. Then send your own e-mail follow-up: I know everybody is so busy, but we need to give a headcount by Thursday and just want to make sure your child is included. If the party is days away, suck it up and call to ask if the child will attend.
Your invitation should be clear and include the name of the child being invited, the name of the child whose party it is, and the venue, date and time of the event.
When creating a childrens birthday party invitation, its important to consider the following: Send the invitation via mail. To avoid any schoolyard issues, send invitations in the mail, or via a phone call. Clearly state whether the party is themed. The date and time clearly displayed. Add your contact details.
Most parents send out 1st birthday party invitations at least four weeks before the event, which is the perfect amount of timenot too late, and not so early that people will forget about the festivities. (Of course, when you use Paperless Post, you can send scheduled reminders to guests as the party date approaches.)
For casual birthday parties held at someones home, plan to send birthday party invitations 24 weeks before the event. If youre throwing a bigger birthday party or a party at a venue that requires a headcount, aim for 45 weeks before the event. Add an RSVP by date 2 weeks before the event, as well.
