4 key components of a pitch deck for a TV show: 1) Logline (Elevator pitch) This is your shows heartbeat. In one or two sentences, capture its essence. 2) One-sheet. Think of this as your shows business card. 3) Series bible. This is the blueprint of your show. 4) Pilot script. This is where your idea comes to life.
Your Pitch Deck Should Have a Clear Synopsis A brief story introduction following your title slide. Background on the creative team behind the screenplay and/or film project. Introduction of characters (make your audience care and feel a sense of who each character is)
How do you pitch a show? Persistence is key. Make your pitch relatable, and understand what makes it marketable. Keep your pitch authentic, and dont get discouraged by similar storylines from other writers. Flesh out characters that grab peoples attention. Know your worth as a creative.
The logline, also known as the elevator pitch. This is a short summary of your TV show idea and needs to be one or two sentences at most. It must clearly demonstrate the core concept of the show.
How to Pitch a TV Show ORIGIN. Briefly touch upon what inspired you to write this idea. HUMAN HOOK. Why will the audience care? CHARACTERS. Who is this about? DESIRES. What do they want OBSTACLES. Whats in the way? HIGHLIGHTS. What are the funny / sad / bonkers moments that will stand out as memorable? THE OPEN ROAD.
Your pitch should demonstrate that it comes from you, that you are the right person to write it, and that the audience will care. To achieve this, make it personal and universal at the same time by appealing to the audiences emotions. The emotional hook is what draws your audience in.
When you pitch your story to the producer, start with your logline and then go through the story in the order its told. Set the scene, and introduce the main characters, describe the conflict, cover any key plot points, and finally, outline the conclusion.
