Change the default resolution for inserting pictures in Office Click File Options Advanced. Under Image Size and Quality, select High fidelity in the Default resolution list.
No image on your PowerPoint presentation should be under 100ppi or pixels per inch. Why? Because your presentations will be displayed on a large screen and anything that is under 100 pixels per inch will look pixelated.
To print PowerPoint presentations in High Quality, go to File - Options and then visit the Advanced tab. Under the Advanced options, you can scroll down until the Print section. Here, there is a checkbox that says High quality. Check this checkbox and hit the OK button to save the changes.
In most cases, a normal sized image (3 x 5 original) at 150dpi should work fine. Once you insert it into a PowerPoint slide, you may find yourself with a need to enlarge it. At 150dpi, you will be able to roughly double its original size and have it still look fine on the screen.
