You can only cancel a sales order thats in Processing status. If the sales order is in Closed status or Partially Closed status, then you must return the sales order instead.
The sales order is a legally binding contract on both the buyer and seller. The sales order form includes items by part number, SKU, or service description on each sales order line, quantities, prices, and other terms. These terms include the order date, delivery date, and customer requirements.
The Cancel Date (or End Date) is not always used, but it allows the Seller and Buyer to agree on a deadline when outstanding orders will be canceled if not fulfilled or shipped.
Deleting sales order is not suggestible. It removes the traces of the order from the system. You could try rejecting the line items as it would be same as deleting but will keep the order in the system.
