To format or change the format of numbers, dates or currencies in a spreadsheet: On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Select the range of cells that youd like to format or modify. Click Format. Number. Select the format to apply to the range of cells.
For example, you can format a 10-digit number, such as 5555551234, as (555) 555-1234. Select the cell or range of cells that you want to format. How to select cells or ranges? On the Home tab, click the Dialog Box Launcher next to Number. In the Category box, click Special. In the Type list, click Phone Number.
Wrap text automatically In a worksheet, select the cells that you want to format. On the Home tab, in the Alignment group, select Wrap Text. (On Excel for desktop, you can also select the cell, and then press Alt + H + W.)
To format a cell as a phone number, follow these steps. From the toolbar, select Format, then hover over the Number option. From the Number drop down menu, select Custom Number Format at the bottom.

To open the menu, tap the top of the column again. Tap More . Scroll down and tap SORT A-Z or SORT Z-A. Your data will be sorted.
