Parsing data means you break it down into separate components. For example, you split a column of full names into one column for first names and one for surnames. There is more than one way to extract data from Excel and send it elsewhere.
Select the cell, range, or entire column that contains the text values that you want to split. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click Text to Columns. Follow the instructions in the Convert Text to Columns Wizard to specify how you want to divide the text into separate columns. You can import data from a text file into an existing worksheet. Click the cell where you want to put the data from the text file. On the Data tab, in the Get Transform Data group, click From Text/CSV. In the Import Data dialog box, locate and double-click the text file that you want to import, and click Import.

If you click a cell and then press DELETE or BACKSPACE, you clear the cell contents without removing any cell formats or cell comments. If you clear a cell by using Clear All or Clear Contents, the cell no longer contains a value, and a formula that refers to that cell receives a value of 0 (zero). Select the cells or range of data you want to extract. Copy the selected data (Ctrl + C on Windows, Command + C on Mac). Paste the data into your desired application (e.g., another Excel file, Word document, or text editor) using Ctrl + V (Windows) or Command + V (Mac).
