Your 2, 3 or 4 year old could benefit from 1140 hours a year of early learning and childcare (ELC). This is free to you, funded by the Scottish Government. That works out at about 30 hours a week if you use it during school term-time, or around 22 hours a week if you use it year-round.
It is a legal requirement to keep written records of all accidents and incidents that happen while the child is in the childminders care and any first aid treatment given. You will be asked to sign each record to show that you have been informed.
You can get up to 30 hours of free childcare a week for children aged 3 and 4 under the childcare offer for Wales. If your child is 3 to 4 years old, you may be able to get 30 hours free childcare per week for 38 weeks of the year (during school term time).
This entitlement will be rolled out in phases starting from April 2024. From April 2024 - working parents of 2-years can get up to 15 hours a week of free education and childcare. From September 2024 - working parents of 9 months 3 years old can get up to 15 hours a week free education and childcare.
