An extension gives you until October 16, 2023, to file your 2022 federal income tax return. You can use IRS Free File at IRS.gov/freefile to request an automatic filing extension or file Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File.
Within your TaxAct return, click File Extension from the left-side menu. Continue with the interview process to enter information. On the screen titled Filing Extension Step - Extension Options, you can either print or e-file your federal extension. State extensions can be printed later in the process.
When you e-file through TaxAct, you can have our product fees deducted from your federal or state tax refund. This transaction is processed by our banking partner Republic Bank, who charges a fee for that service.
