Air Assault Course Students are required to complete an obstacle course and two-mile run on zero day before entering the course. Prior to graduation, students must successfully complete written and hands-on examinations, sling load tests, and a 12 -mile foot march in under three hours with full combat load.
The final event is the 12-mile (19 km) ruck march, which soldiers must complete with the prescribed uniform and equipment in three hours or less or fail to graduate. Upon completion of the ruck march, soldiers lay out all items in the packing list.
Air Assault School (AASLT) Training is broken into three phases, each lasting three days: Combat Assault Phase, Sling Load Phase, and Rappel Phase. On graduation day, Cadets will undergo a 12-mile rucksack march. When they complete the march, they will earn their wings as official Air Assault Soldiers.
Students will need to wear a field uniform (able to get dirty) for Day Zero. Students will conduct the Obstacle Course and Two-Mile Run in the uniform in which they report to the Air Assault Course. Students are not allowed to have cell phones or tobacco products while in the Air Assault Course.
Trainees will use cell phones only under direct supervision of a staff member. 4. Trainees are authorized access to their personal cell phones during the fourth week and at the end of the seventh week of training to firm up travel arrangements with family and guests.
