You'll pay tax if you or your family use a company car privately, including for commuting. You pay tax on the value to you of the company car, which depends on things like how much it would cost to buy and the type of fuel it uses. This value of the car is reduced if: you have it part-time.
At the end of the tax year you'll usually need to submit a P11D form to HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ) for each employee you've provided with expenses or benefits. You'll also need to submit a P11D(b) form if: you've submitted any P11D forms. you've paid employees' expenses or benefits through your payroll.
The P11D form is used to report benefits in kind. These are items or services which you (or your employees) receive from your company in addition to your salary, such as private healthcare, interest-free loans (to pay for train season tickets, for example) and company cars.
Submitting your P11D and P11D(b) Online is faster and more secure. You can use either: commercial software. PAYE online service.
Your P11D must be filed by 6 July for the previous tax year, and any taxes must be paid by 22 July. The P11D deadline for the 2021-22 tax year is 6 July 2022 and the payment deadline is 22 July 2022.

The tax-free benefits Though the use of a car and the value of the fuel are taxed, company car drivers do not pay extra tax on some other benefits. The cash value of these benefits often outweighs the cost of any car tax paid.
Your employer might give you a copy of your P11D if they used it to tell HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ) about your 'benefits in kind' (for example company cars or interest-free loans). They do not have to do this, but they must tell you how much each benefit is worth.
Avoiding a company car tax charge The car is used for business purposes and any private use of the car is incidental. Private use should account for no more than 5% of the car's annual mileage on an irregular basis. The same car not used exclusively by one or two employees in a tax year.
You cannot get a replacement P45. Instead, your new employer may give you a 'starter checklist' or ask you for the relevant details about your finances to send to HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ).
You can submit the P11D form via HMRC's PAYE online service, HMRC's Online End of Year Expenses and Benefits service or through a commercial payroll software.
