To qualify for homestead credit for 2024 you must meet the following requirements: You are a legal resident of Wisconsin for all of 2024, from January 1 through December 31. You are 18 years of age or older on December 31, 2024. You have less than $24,680 in household income for 2024.

Beginning with claims filed for the 2025 tax year, this bill reduces the percentage used for household income over $8,060 from 8.785 to 5.614 percent and increases the maximum income amount from $24,680 to $35,000.
Homestead Tax Credit Formula The maximum credit is $1,160 (80% of $1,450 ). For claimants with household income exceeding $8,000, the credit is calculated by first taking 8.788% of income in excess of $8,000 and subtracting it from allowable property taxes. The credit, then, is 80% of this amount.
