How Do You File a Debit Card Chargeback? First, the customer must attempt to resolve the issue with the merchant directly if they haven't already. If the merchant doesn't respond to the customer's attempts to communicate or won't resolve the issue, they can call their bank to dispute the charge.
Cardholders are only entitled to dispute debit card charges if they're the victim of fraud or abuse. Otherwise, they must work with the merchant to refund any transactions they are unhappy with. Also, the bank might be more hesitant to issue a provisional credit, as the money belongs to the cardholder, not the bank.
As per Master / visa guidelines, in case of a dispute, all card holders should provide a duly filled in Transaction Dispute Form (TDF) mentioning the details of the disputed transaction which will enable / authorize the bank to investigate with the respective Merchant / Member Bank.
