The Short-Term Enterprise Allowance (STEA) gives support to people who have lost their job and want to start their own business. It must be a new enterprise. To qualify you must be getting Jobseekers Benefit (JB) or Jobseekers Pay-Relate Benefit (JPRB).
If you are making a repeat claim (less than 6 months since your last claim), you complete form UP6. Application forms are also available from your local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Branch Office. You will also need certain documents when you apply for Jobseekers Benefit.
