When can I submit my retirement packet for the army?
An approved application for retirement may not be withdrawn by the Soldier unless it is established that retention on active duty will prevent an extreme hardship to the Soldier or his/her immediate Family. The hardship must have been unforeseen at the time of application.
What is a DA form 2339?
Requests will be completed on two documents: DA Form 4187, Personnel Action and DA Form 2339, Application for Voluntary Retirement; then forwarded to the appropriate chain of command, not earlier than 12 months before the retirement date or no later than 9 months before the requested retirement date or beginning date
What is DA form 2339?
Each Soldier requesting retirement will, with the help of their personnel officer/S-1, complete DA Form 2339, in accordance with AR 635-200, Chapter 12, paragraph 12- 13. When a waiver to a service obligation is requested, a justification will be included as an enclosure.
Can you cancel military retirement?
The Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower Reserve Affairs) is the approval authority for involuntary separation of all Soldiers with 18 or more years of active federal service. Policy for enlisted retirements and separations is Army Regulation (AR) 635-200 (Active Duty Enlisted Administrative Separations).
