RBTs who have been on voluntary inactive status for less than 2 years and wish to return must do the following: 1. Complete an RBT Renewal Competency Assessment no more than 45 days before you plan to apply. This assessment must be completed no more than 45 days before your payment date.
An RBT is allotted a grace period of up to 30 days after the initial date of expiry to get a renewal for their certification. It will become inactive after that, though RBTs can still get a renewal at an increased price. If the RBT waits any longer, they must pay an additional $50 to complete it.
BCBAs who are granted voluntary inactive status may remain inactive for up to four years. Individuals who have inactive status will be listed as inactive on the Certificant Registry and will not be verified as having active BACB certification.
Inactive RBTs are not permitted to practice, bill, or represent themselves as RBTs and will be listed as inactive in the Certificant Registry. If granted voluntary inactive status, RBTs may be inactive for up to 2 years.
There is a 30-day reinstatement period that allows RBTs to submit their application and pay any required fees after their certification has expired. However, if the certification is not renewed within this period, the RBTs certification status will become inactive.
