Children set a reading goal and collect rewards for reading anything they enjoy. Children can sign up at their local library or online, and its FREE to take part. This years Challenge, Marvellous Makers, was all about creativity.
The challenge, aimed at children aged 4 to 11 years, is to read six or more library books over the summer. In libraries, there are stickers and other rewards for every book read and children who complete the challenge are awarded a medal and a certificate.
Some books are quick reads; others peter out until they disappear at the bottom of a new stack. To mix things up, this past year I jumped on the 12 Books Challenge: Read 12 books recommended by 12 friends in 12 months. The only rules presented were: Each person can only make one recommendation.
The Summer Reading Challenge is for children aged 4 11. It challenges them to read six or more library books over the summer. You can collect stickers along the way. A medal and certificate is awarded for finishing.
