A consignment note will have five sections. You (the consignor) will complete sections A and B before the collection takes place. The waste carrier will complete section C when the waste is collected. You (the consignor) will then sign section D to confirm all the details are correct.
Is a consignment note the same as a delivery note?
A Consignment Note is created when goods are handed over to a transporter. It proves the goods are in transit and often includes carrier details and route info. Its more about the journey. A Delivery Note, on the other hand, confirms the goods were actually delivered to the recipient.
Why is a consignment note important?
The Consignment Note is a vital document in freight forwarding, ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the transportation of goods. From providing proof of receipt to facilitating customs clearance, its role cannot be overstated.
A HWCN is a legal record that follows hazardous waste from the moment it leaves your site to the point its safely treated or disposed of. Its essential for compliance and traceability. You need to keep each HWCN for at least three years from the date of collection.
Therefore, in the Service Tax regime, issuance of Consignment Note (C/N) was integral and mandatory requirement before any road transporter could be brought within the ambit of GTA.
