The arbitration rules contain four procedural tracks: the Regular Track Procedures (Section R), the Procedures for the Resolution of Disputes through Document Submission (Section D), the Fast Track Procedures (Section F) and the Procedures for Large, Complex Construction Disputes (Section L).
Rule 20. Proceedings to enforce, confirm, modify or vacate an Award will be controlled by and conducted in conformity with the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C.
In the case of face-to-face proceedings, the proceedings should be conducted at a location which is reasonably convenient to both parties with due consideration of their ability to travel and other pertinent circumstances.
Rule R-23. Rule R-23 provides language stating that arbitrators will have enforcement authority and the ability to issue orders that are necessary for a fair outcome. Such powers include the following: The arbitrator can issue orders requesting confidential information of one or more of the parties.
ADR is a private process between parties to the dispute and therefore it is not in the public domain like litigation. This can help maintain relationships between Main Contractors, Subcontractors and Building Employers and makes the process easier.

R-7. Consolidation and Joinder: This Rule has been revised to better reflect the AAAs administrative process and the expectations of the parties and arbitrator. The changes are as follows: Requests for consolidation and joinder must now be filed before the Merits Arbitrator appointment is confirmed.
The revised Rule R-7, however, requires all joinder and consolidation requests to be filed with the AAA prior to the appointment of the merits arbitrator. The AAA shall appoint a single arbitrator for the limited purpose of deciding consolidation and joinder requests.
