How does the Lexile system work?

A Lexile measure, represented as a number followed by an L, ranges from below 0L to above 2000L, capturing the complexity of texts your child can read and understand. Your child may also receive a Quantile measure from tests they take at school or a state assessment.

What is the Lexile level of reading?

Lexile text measures reflect the readability of an individual book based on an analysis of word frequency, sentence length, and text complexity. Lexile reading measures reflect a childs ability to read texts in a certain range of difficulty.

Does the NWEA map give a Lexile score?

Where is the Lexile measure on Exact Path reports? Lexile measures appear on the reading diagnostic results page, under the Other Metrics tab. Only the reading diagnostic includes Lexile measures.
