Available Trains Any of the following trains are available to the player: The players own train. The Mexican Train (if not yet started, the player can start the train with a domino matching the central Double). Another players train but only if it is has a marker on it.
Playing doubles When a double is played, it is placed perpendicular to the train. After a double has been played, the same player is required to play another domino, which is known as finishing, satisfying, answering, closing, or covering the double.
If they played on the open, private train, then it would be officially started and you could play on it for your next turn. But another player cannot open a train for you as a gift or lend a tile to youno matter if theyre family or not!
Yes. This is applicable only to later players, like players 3 or 4, in the first round. But, if on your first play someone else is unable to play, there is a marker on their train to indicate it is open, and a domino played before you allows you to, you can play on another players train before your own.
If you get stuck on a double and cannot play on it, the next player MUST play on it if they can, if not they draw, and play, if they still cant the next player repeats the sequence, and so on until someone satisfies the double.

The official ruling appears to be that there is one train per player, and one Mexican Train (or Caboose) which is public and always open to all players. That said Mexican Train is a game with numerous variations, some published, and others not. Play however provides the most fun for you and your group.
The game is played with a standard set of Double Twelve dominoes, and each player has their own train, as well as the option to play on the Mexican Train, which is a shared train that belongs to all players.
