In general, age, enrollment, attendance and academic rules must be followed in order to be eligible to play in high school. Also, players must generally pass a medical examination at least once a year.
Attendance The CMS student-athlete must be present in school for 80% of all school days during the current athletic season. The student-athlete may be exempt from this expectation due to serious health or medical situations.
For the PPE, a limited physical examination is recommended. The screening physical examination should include vital signs (eg, height, weight, and blood pressure); visual acuity; and cardiovascular, pulmonary, abdominal, skin, genitalia (for males), neurologic, and musculoskeletal examination.
The NCAA Eligibility Center certifies whether prospective college athletes are eligible to play sports at NCAA Division I or II institutions. It reviews the student-athletes academic record, SAT or ACT scores, and amateur status to ensure conformity with NCAA rules.
