Can you build a house in Ontario without tarion?

To build your own home, you must frst obtain a Letter of Confrmation from Tarion, which allows you to build your own home in Ontario without registering as a builder, and means that your home will not qualify for the Tarion warranty.

How do I claim my Tarion warranty?

Homeowner Report warranty claim items on the applicable form and within the relevant submission period. For every warranty claim item, provide enough detail to allow the builder to identify where and what the issue is. If available, provide supporting documentation (e.g. photographs)

How long does a builder have to fix defects in Ontario?

Upon being notified of a defect, the builder has 120 days to rectify the complaint.
