Begin with Block 1, 'Direct Labor'. Enter all proposed labor categories such as project director and senior analyst, along with the estimated hours for each. Calculate the estimated cost by multiplying hours by the hourly rate, and sum these costs in the Total Direct Labor row.
Move to Block 2, 'Overhead'. Input your overhead percentage based on known rates or use a standard rate of 120% of total direct labor. Place this calculated amount in the total estimated cost column.
In Block 3, 'Materials/Services', list all necessary supplies and services excluding IT. Ensure you detail any equipment needed for project completion.
For Block 4, 'Information Technology Support', specify any IT-related supplies and services required for your project.
In Block 5, estimate travel costs by combining airfare, per diem, and local travel expenses. Use average trip costs multiplied by estimated trips.
Block 6 requires you to list any subcontractor or consultant costs. Itemize these based on past experiences or expected needs.
Finally, in Block 7, itemize any other direct costs not covered previously and total them in the final column of Block 8.
