Manufacturer Battery Fee Please note: On April 1, 2022, both battery fees increase from $1.00 to $2.00. If you purchase lead-acid batteries in California or if you are a dealer, retailer, manufacturer, or importer of lead-acid batteries sold in California, you will be affected by one or both fees.
The fee is $2 per battery with a capacity of fewer than 12 volts and $3 per battery with a capacity of 12 volts or more. Reporting is due either monthly on the 20th day following the end of the calendar month or quarterly on the 20th day following the end of each quarter.
The Texas state sales and use tax rate is 6.25 percent, but local taxing jurisdictions (cities, counties, special-purpose districts and transit authorities) also may impose sales and use tax up to 2 percent for a total maximum combined rate of 8.25 percent.
Rates. Sales: 6.25 percent of sales price, minus any trade-in allowance. The taxable value of private-party purchases of used motor vehicles may be based on the standard presumptive value.
1 percent of total consideration paid for the vehicle (model years 1997 and later). 2.5 percent of total consideration paid for the vehicle (model years prior to 1997).
