The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a grassroots volunteer program that is dedicated to reducing violence in our society. It started with one workshop for inmates at Green Haven Correctional Facility in New York State in 1975.
The Alternatives to Violence Project Basic Workshop teaches interpersonal conflict resolution skills through a series of step-by-step processes. These experiences in small groups and one-to-one interactions build a sense of community and trust through exercises focusing on: Affirmation Building self esteem and trust.
