Typical minimum requirements include: At least 7 years of softball umpiring experience. At least 5 years working at the highest level of high school and travel ball. Recommendation from two respected college softball umpire.
The estimated total pay for a Umpire at USSSA is $19 per hour. This number represents the median, which is the midpoint of the ranges from our proprietary Total Pay Estimate model and based on salaries collected from our users. The estimated base pay is $17 per hour. The estimated additional pay is $1 per hour.
For standard tournaments with 2 umpires per game, each team will pay one umpire $60 cash (no checks or CC) at the plate in separate envelopes. There are no refunds after the start of the game.
You must watch for, Tags, Obstruction, Interferences, Touched Bases, Runners passing each other, Blocked Balls, etc. Any time the ball is thrown, you must know where the runners are in case the ball is thrown out of play. It is always important to hustle. You dont have a partner to assist you.
