The PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) only permits 7th and 8th grade students to compete at the middle school level.
Students below the seventh grade may not participate in interscholastic athletics. Students in grades 7 and 8 will not be permitted to participate on varsity interscholastic teams in football, wrestling, lacrosse and soccer.
What are the NCAA's GPA Requirements? The minimum GPA required to compete at the NCAA Division I level is a 2.3 GPA in approved core-courses and earn an SAT score of 900 or ACT sum score of 75 to be eligible.
The NCAA Eligibility Number is not required for Division Athletes. If you plan on playing at the Division III level, it is recommended that you create a profile and obtain an NCAA ID. You can also do that at the NCAA Eligibility Center website.
Earn at least a 2.3 GPA in your core courses. Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score matching your core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale, which balances your test score and core-course GPA. If you have a low test score, you need a higher core-course GPA to be eligible.

Eligibility Timeline Division I five-year clock: If you play at a Division I school, you have five-calendar years in which to play four seasons of competition. Your five-year clock starts when you enroll as a full-time student at any college.
